Tomoko Hojo
Tomoko Hojo is an artist working within the fluidity between sound, music and performance. Recently Hojo work on the theme that makes (women’s) silenced voices audible in the history, with a special focus on Japanese women who have relations with the West, such as Yoko Ono and Sadayakko Kawakami. Her works have been exhibited and performed at Issue Project Room (NYC), ZKM (Karlstuhe), Emily Harvey Foundation (NYC), Tate Modern (London), Contemporary Art Center Aomori (Japan), SA))_gallery (Moscow), Music From Japan Festival 2021 (NYC), Kunstquartier Bethanien (Berlin), TOKAS Hongo (Tokyo), Klang Moor Schopfe 2023 (Gais, CH), Contemporary Art Center Nairs (Scuol, CH), Kotolňa (Košice, Slovakia). In 2023, She has published ‘Unfinished Descriptions’, a documentation of a show based on the research about Yoko Ono through yoin press, and a grantee of The Pola Art Foundation, Asian Cultural Council, Yoshino Gypsum Art Foundation, Agency for Cultural Affairs and many others. https://tomokohojo.net/
